Hotels in Varadero, Cuba

Varadero hotels are recognized as the best in all of Cuba. A Varadero vacation combines the best of several worlds. A hotel in Varadero Cuba offers the luxury you would expect from the best Caribbean hotels and the vibrant culture of Cuba is within easy reach.

A large proportion of the Varadero hotels are all-inclusive resorts, which combine food and drink and other amenities in the price of the room. Most Varadero resorts sell bulk rooms to travel agencies and package tour operators, who offer great deals for vacations combining accommodation and charter flights. The best thing about a Varadero vacation is the large beach, one of the finest beaches in Cuba or anywhere in the Caribbean. The Varadero peninsula is about fifteen miles long, but only one mile wide, so every hotel in Varadero Cuba is close to the beach.

The Xanadu Mansion is indubitably one of the best Varadero hotels. The former home of American industrialist Irenee du Pont, Xanadu has less than ten rooms. If you can not get (or afford) a room, Xanadu is worth a visit for the restaurant or just a look around.

Among the best all-inclusive Varadero resorts are the small and intimate Las Morias, the larger Melia Las Americas, the exclusive Paradisus Varadero, and the expansive Peninsula Varadero. Some of these, like the Peninsula Varadero, are almost small villages, with several restaurants, pools, and even hairdressers. Rates at the top Varadero resorts vary widely, but start at about $100 a night for a double. As in most places, the best deals on Varadero resorts are generally found online or through travel agents.

Independent traveler will find there are precious few budget Varadero hotels. Unlike elsewhere in Cuba, it is almost impossible to find a casa particulare. These unique bed and breakfast-like places, where independent Cubans rent out a room of their house, are banned on the peninsula. Despite this, there are numerous Cubans offering rooms in downtown Varadero. The least expensive traditional Varadero hotels are found in the downtown area. Dos Mares is among the best.

Finding a hotel in Varadero Cuba is just the first step in planning a vacation in Cuba. There are many things to do on a Varadero vacation, just make sure you do not spend all your time in a Varadero resort or on the white sand beach, tempting as it might be.
